Upper Texas Coast Getting
Ready for Winter Texans!
(Above drawing of New RV Park, Texas Lakeside RV resort set to open in November 2011)

It's late summer and while much of the nation contemplates ending their summer vacations and families get ready to go back to school, there is a tinge of  excitement in the air for a group of travelers who know that fall and winter offer some great travel benefits especially in the Lone Star State. One of the regions in high prep for this fun season of travel is the Upper Coast of Texas. This region offers many great seaside communities, historical sites and a major Metroplex to enjoy and they are working hard to bring Winter travelers and Winter Texans into the region.

From Sabine Pass and Orange on the Louisiana state line to beautiful and warm Texas beaches at Surfside,Bolivar, Port Lavaca and Galveston, the Upper Texas coast provides outstanding RV opportunities and close proximity to metropolitan areas for those who prefer to stay near the amenities offered by larger cities like Houston and Beaumont. There's still plenty of room for solitude however and Winter Texans find the region ideal for escaping the colder climates of home and relaxing in the sunny, warm afternoons of the ocean climate.

Finding a place to winter here becomes easier by the day as new Winter Rental listings come into our office daily as the season quickly approaches. Often folks come through this region on their way to Deep South Texas, or they split their time between the many wonderful regions of the state opting to stay in local hotels for a few nights to break their road weariness, or parking their RV second home at many of the great RV parks in the region.

One bit of exciting news to the region is the addition of a brand new "state of the art" RV park, in the quaint seaside community of Port Lavaca. Developer Doug Jensen undertook this project several years ago with a lot of intensive research, his goal being to find the quintessential amenities for the ultimate RV facility -  no easy task. But after many hours of travel, phone calls and research which included calls to RV Park owners, residents and associations, he is pleased with the final plans. The park will have waterfront and back-in sites available by November 2011.

“This RV Park has been engineered and designed with all campers in mind. The Resort has been built to achieve the highest ratings from both Good Sam's and Woodall's.” says Doug Jensen. "I'm excited that it's going to help more people discover that Port Lavaca is a great little seaside town with a lot to offer everyone."

The park will include a 4000-square foot clubhouse with an essentials store, exercise room, media area, and pool tables will be the center hub of the community. A stocked fishing lake, a swimming pool and hot tub, a walking and jogging track, and several picnic areas and dog runs lead the list of the park's highlights. Private restrooms and showers, security cameras, two laundry facilities, free WIFI, and satellite TV are some of the many amenities. The fully-fenced and gated resort will feature 24-foot wide concrete roads leading to extra wide and long concrete RV pads that include a small yard space. All sites will have FULL hook-ups with water, electric and sewer - all the comforts of home!

And the beach, seafood and attractions make this area a fun place to stay for a week or an entire season. Many popular events bring travelers to the area and even if you are staying in other regions of the Lone Star State you'll want to come and enjoy these events. A favorite with many Winter Texans are Mardi Gras celebrations in both Galveston and Port Arthur. A Dickens Festival on Galveston Island also is noted for its growing gaiety and popularity among the Winter Texan crowd every year in December. Attractions include the Johnson Space Center near Houston, a number of theme park attractions, nearby Kemah Park and the many resort amenities of Galveston Island .

Stay tuned for the many local festivals and events coming this fall and winter in the region with our Winter Texan calendar
