Lake Texoma, on the Texas-Oklahoma border, has long been a favorite lake getaway for nearby residents of Dallas and Oklahoma City - about an hour and a two hour drive respectively. World class lake marinas, superior fishing and great recreational opportunities combine to make the lake one of Texas' favorite vacation spots.
But because of geographic location, wintering at the lake is a bit on the cool side for many Winter Texans. But that hasn't stopped the swelling number of "Spring Texan" visitors - winter Texans who stay until the spring season - from flocking to the lake on their journeys back to their northern and Midwestern homes.
 In fact, the last several years has seen a large influx of annual spring Texans, with the numbers growing every year.
The 89,000 acre lake on the Red River offers plenty of assorted campgrounds. The lake area includes two wildlife refuges, two state parks, fifty four U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-managed parks, twenty-six resorts, hundreds of campgrounds and a variety of excellent golf courses. Power boating, power sailing, personal watercraft, water skiers and wind surfers all consider the lake an excellent place to have fun. Lake Texoma has become a huge sailing center based on the lake's size, depth and miles of sailing shoreline.
