Cooking on the Road...

Taking a closer look at author Joyce Ryan's newest RV cookbook, a new chapter in the Bible of Great on-the-road cooking...
a review by Carla Land, About.com Adventuretravel Guide

Whether you're a full time RVer,  a weekend camping warrior or a newbie to the RVing world, successfully adapting to cooking and planning for meals in an RV can be a daunting challenge! First and right up front there is the issue of space...little to none. Secondly there is the issue of time...you didn't buy an RV to enjoy the good life to become a slave to a kitchen on the road. Nor can you afford to eat out every night, not only does it get expensive but usually unhealthy and boring! Thirdly you will quickly notice that the kitchen equipment in your RV does not work the same as your equipment at home, it's enough to send anyone screaming to the nearest Pizza Hut!

But don't despair help is here from an experienced Pro, Joyce Ryan. Ms. Ryan has over 20 years experience in RVing and has authored other bestselling cookbook titles, The Happy Camper's Gourmet Cookbook, and America's Best Cheesecakes...yum, can't wait to read this one.

I personally used to run a bookstore and we could never keep the Happy Camper title in stock so I fully expect the same success for her newest title, America's Best RV Cookbook.

Joyce knows from personal experience the quicker and easier the recipes the happier we will all be, but there is no sacrifice of taste in these recipes. In fact you'll be surprised at the simple list of ingredients and ask yourself why you hadn't put them together before yourself. Simplicity is the theme throughout the book as she has organized lists that are essential for every rver...you know the checklists you go through everytime you go camping!

There is a list of suggested supplies and equipment, a list for substitutions and equivalents, a measurements list, a timesavers list, tips and common problems, and a list of web sites devoted to camping and RVing...a list mecca for you list people.

However for every cookbook collector in the world the bottom line is the food. How does it really taste? How easy was it to follow the recipes and suggestions?Well in this case it gets a 5 star from my crew. Just try the Cranberry Salsa or the ease of the Slow Cooker Pork Chalupas and you'll agree, this is the one book that is making it into the RV!

America's Best RV Cookbook is available from amazon.com but the author has graciously offered to pay for shipping if you want to purchase it directly from the publisher for a total of $16.95:   Butterfly Books 210-494-0077.
