Rio Fest in the Rio Grande Valley 2003

Harlingen's annual Rio Fest is more than just another community celebration. It is a major developing festival in the Rio Grande Valley that provides outstanding static art and performing art exhibitions and activities designed to entertain the entire family.
From the original Coments,  to foot-stomping zydeco music, to a centerstage hypnotist, this year's event is packed with grand live performances and more arts and crafts than you can view in a single day.

A noted arts and culture community, Harlingen opens the gates wide for this premiere festival each year, an event that is growing leaps and bounds as it evolves into one of the Valley's best festivals.

The 2005 RioFest is being staged April 15-17 and as always features a jazz festival and an art festival. The community comes alive with art expressions, especially in the central Jackson Street District, where shopping can become a way of life.

Also featured this year are Kachunga and the Alligator Show, and Dr. Skateboard, a one-man aeriel boarder that knows no fear.

Artist Larry Haines is the 2005 Guest Artist at RioFest.  An avid sport fisherman, Larry's artwork depicts the tremendous excitement the sport provides. His love and fascination with South Texas and his eye for detail are evident in his paintings.

Harlingen's RioFest is the perfect frestival for the entire family with plenty of sunshine, live music, abundant food, and art to pack your weekend with plenty of enjoyment. Viva la RioFest!
