North Texas
With grand ol' cities and rolling countryside, expansive lakes and fertile farm land, North Texas offers a lot to the traveler of the Lone Star State. From the bright lights to the bright night sky, discover this unique area of Texas and enjoy its many ammenities.

From the dynamic Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to unique and historical communities like Texarkana, Sherman-Denison, Greenville and Eagle Lake, North Texas provides plenty of diversity and attractions for visitors and Winter Texans alike. With a winter climate much milder than most areas on the North American continent, North Texas is a favorite for those wanting to enjoy the wide-open spaces without ever being too far away from the amenities offered by larger population centers.

Visitors find remote areas like Caddo Lake, and the unique and lush vegetation it offers, ideal for spending a week or a season under the clear Texas sky, while others enjoy the wide expanse of Texoma Lake on the Texas-Oklahoma border, where campgrounds and RV parks abound and offer year-round accommodations to the traveler. Eagle Lake, just Southwest of Fort Worth, borders the Texas Hill Country's northern rim and offers more great opportunities to spend  week or a season in Texas comfort and splendor.

North Texas is known for its art, agriculture, sciences and abundant parks and resorts catering to the needs of the traveler, and its many winter residents. Golf, tennis, water related activities and plenty of the great outdoors await those planning a trip to the region. And expect to find plenty of Texas history along the way.

And there are few areas better equipped to provide attractions and activities for visitors than North Texas. With museums and parks in every community, you can easily spend a week or a month just traveling from attraction to attraction, and visiting the many unique communities that make up the region. Major theme parks, like Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, offer additional recreational activities and are open for most of the year.

And if you happen to be in the region in early Spring, there is a major transformation in the landscape when the many flowering plants and trees take on their annual floral coat, providing a colorful spectacle to see.

Since the region encompasses several thousand square miles, there is great diversity in the landscape and ecology, providing many choices to meet the discriminating needs of those that call it their winter home away from home.
