Ladies Kingfish Tournament
22nd Annual
Ladies Kingfish Tournament
Aug. 8 - 10, 2003

Ladies from all across the country and in particular Texas look forward to this "girls only" weekend each year and have done so for the last 21 years. The tournament originally called The Yellow Rose of Texas for the first two years of its' development has created many an avid lady angler over the years. It's growth and popularity created a demand for the South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce to take over the event in 1993 and the event continues to grow and draw more lady anglers and their families every year.  Once again helping to put the Rio Grande Valley and South Padre Island on the map and stimulating the economy for this beautiful locale.

Ladies will compete in two divisons bay and offshore hoping to net a catch that could earn them a trophy for Grand Champion Bay, Grand Champion Offshore, Overall Largest Fish. The trophy no one wants but someone always receives each year for each division is "The best hardluck story".

The boats will depart and come back for weigh-ins at the South Point Marina in Port Isabel. This marina has a great viewing area for the weighins and it's fun to watch the boats come in even if you don't know anyone in the tournament. Check in times for the bay division will be on Saturday from 2:30-5:00 and for the offshore divison from 2:30-7:00.
