Independence Coastline
The July 4th holiday in Texas amounts to barbeques, iced-down beverages, fireworks - and the Beach!

Just about every American has their own special way of celebrating our national independence, but in the Lone Star State, ice-chests, barbeques and fireworks seem to be at the top of the list of favorites.
Combine that with a traditional trip to the Texas beach, and life and celebration just don't get any better.
Texans are terribly patriotic, and for many, a trip to the beach makes the holiday the perfect opportunity to take in the warm sun and tropical breezes abundant along the hundreds of miles of Texas coastline, and to sport their favorite red, white and blue beach towels, bathing suits, and assorted and sundry items, including, of course, the flying and waving of Old Glory.
From Galveston to South Padre Island, Texans and visitors will celebrate the holiday with assorted events and various activities. Large throngs of spectators will gather in Galveston, Rockport, Corpus Christi and South Padre Island to witness substantial displays of fireworks. In South Padre Island, a grandfather fireworks display designed by firework mega-giant Atlas Fireworks will begin just after dark, an exhibition choreographed to music and aired over local radio station KZSP-FM. Nearly 150,000 spectators are expected to crowd onto the small barrier island to participate in the celebration.
In Brownsville, a parade headlines the day's activities and a nearby air show will feature World War II flying relics crowding the airwaves to celebrate the holiday.
In other parts of the state, special ceremonies will be held on the front steps of the Alamo in San Antonio, and at the San Jacinto Battlegrounds near Houston.
Of course, every city and community has its own brand of celebration. For many, a Fourth without a trip to the warm Texas Gulf would be a Fourth unfullilled.
