Located across the bay from Corpus Christi, Ingleside today is a part of the greater Corpus Christi Statistical District - or Metro - and is home to the United States Navy Mine Warfare Center.Once a Humble Oil Company town, Ingleside has become a popular spot for fishing, retreating, and vacationing in the Coastal Bend area without suffering the crowds of more popular destinations in the region like Rockport/Fulton, Corpus Christi, and nearby Port Aransas.
People first started coming to the area where the community of Ingleside now sits in the early 1850s. The territory was sandy with populated by live oaks and well suited to farming. When the Texas shrimp industry was born in the late 1920s, Ingleside became a major contributor to the state's commercial fishing industry.
Winter Texans will find the community atractive because it is located off-the-beaten-tourist-path and conveniently near Corpus Christi and area attractions and sites.
