It seems only natural that the largest wine festival in Texas would be held in Grapevine. In fact, GrapeFest is the largest wine festival in the Southwest and an event wine lovers just shouldn't miss.
It happens this year Sept. 7-10 up and down the historic Main Street district of Grapevine and spills over at wineries all across the surrounding countryside, featuring not only fine Texas wines but great wine from around the world.
It's one of the premiere wine events of the year in the Lone Star State, a festival that grown quickly over its 20 year history.
For four full days wine lovers celebrate the fruit of the wine with special shuttled tasting tours, exhibits and music stages, culinary demonstrations and fun activities for all ages.
Among the highlights of the event is the annual People's Choice Competition, the largest consumer judged wine competition in the United States, where festival participants select the best wine of the year. Robust competition between vintners occurs as Fest goers carefully taste as many of the competing wines as possible before pledging their votes.
For the action minded, grab that someone special and head over to the Grape Stomp to compete for the coveted Purple Foot Award.
You had best come hungry as well as the Texas Wine Tribute, a gourmet food and wine pairing pavilion, features cooking demonstrations and award winning chefs. Or take in the live music from four different stages and kick up your heels to a host of different music styles.
If you're a tennis player you won't want to miss the GrapeFest Tennis Classic, or submit your bid at the Vintner's Auction Classic, a silent auction that gives you the chance to take home one of the award winning wines showcased at the festival.
