Just a quick car ferry trip across east Galveston Bay and you find yourself on Bolivar Peninsula and in the community of Crystal Beach. In addition to the full time resindets who live there, Crystal Beach is known far and wide as a great Texas beach destination, and one of the best places to get great Texas seafood - including crabs. Being staged over Mother's Day weekend (May 9-11), visitors will have three days of fun for all ages. The event is sponsored by the Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and represents the Chamber's largest fund raising project of the year. In addition to the inviting beaches and watersports galore, visitors can enjoy over 60 food and vendor booths, unique events like the crab legs contest, crab races, the Texas Crab Fest Weiner Dog Nationals, ride and games, and a Kid's Stage for free entertainment for the little ones. Expect plenty of live music as well, and enough varities and dishes of crab as you can hope to find! Delicious! Mother's are certain to find the perfect gift at the vendor booths, which also features the works of local artists.
