It's a lonely place, removed from the world by more than mere distance; a place reserved for only the most adventuresome and hearty. It stands in the middle of the desert like a great monolith constructed by the Gods to relieve the countryside of its constant harsh environment and its isolation and misery. It is surrounded by miles and miles of nearly nothing; a land where only the fit survive, and the strongest prevail. It is isolated, lonely - and majestic. Discover Big Bend National Park, one of the best destinations of the year!

Stoic, dependable, historic - the lighthouses of the Texas Gulf coast, like their counterparts in other parts of the world, are more than just reminders of man's great struggle with the sea. They are pillars of hopes past; guideposts for mariners lost in troubled waters; the last and the first site each sailor would see before yielding to the wrath or mercy of prevailing winds and the temporal whims of Mother Nature and Father Sea. Discover the great Texas coastline and the unique lighthouses that mark the way - another favorite destination for 2004.

Fredericksburg - Home of the Sunday House
Fredricksburg, Texas, in the heart of the Hill Country, was founded in 1846 by German settlers, and it's charm and heritage endures to this day. The communitiy's historic district is a designated National Register Historic District. Fredericksburg, just a little over an hour drive from Austin and San Antonio, is known for it's great accommodations, and is home to some of Texas best bed and breakfast and guest houses. The community, home to the Admiral Nimitz Center, is a favorite destination for thousands of winter visitors each year, including a stay at nearby Johnson State Park in Stonewall.

Shimmering in the bright coastal sunlight, Galveston is full of history; where the dramas of Texas have unfolded like chapters in a spell-binding book. Modern Galveston remains a shinning light on the Upper Coast of Texas, and a great winter destination with fabulous attraction like the Moody Gardens and the hiostoric Strand District downtown. There's plenty to do and plenty to see in this getaway destination on the upper Texas Coast.

One foot on South Padre Island and you know why it is becoming a preferred destination for Winter Texans from all across America. Things can't get any more tropical in Texas than on this 30-mile long barrier island just off the coast of the tip of Texas. With some of the most beautiful sunsets in America, South Padre Island offers a comfortable winter climate with temperatures rarely, if ever, reaching the freezing mark.
